The images appearing in the collages Cromofobias Negras (2010) originate from Carlos Amorales' 'Liquid Archive', a database of vector graphics to which Amorales adds images produced by himself and from the media. Before admitting the pictures to the 'Liquid Archive' Amorales abstracts areas of the image with blocks of colour. The re-appearing images in the 'Liquid Archive' are taken by Amorales from their original context and united in new and unusual combinations.
Carlos Amorales about his 'Liquid Archive': "Some hybrid graphics have resulted by combining the images that depart from reality the most; they have become the beginning of a fantastic vocabulary. Some images have been transformed into another, like mutating graphics. For instance a dripping wall painting has mutated into a typography design; the typography has become words, words a story." (from: Carlos Amorales, Liquid Archive - Why Fear the Future?, Mexico, 2007)
