Carlos Amorales' 'Transformable Spider Web' is related to a 16mm film transferred to video Carlos Amorales produced in 2008 which is titled 'Discarded Spider'. This video shows large-scale spider webs of malleable aluminium being transformed by the artist, adding texture to the otherwise flat image. Amorales' dark silhouette against the netting at some moments makes it look as though he is trapped in the gossamer. At other moments he appears to be performing an abstract choreography. Related to the video, Amorales made a series of aluminium spider webs, that looked like they were crumpled up like a sheet of paper. The video and the series of sculptures have been exhibited at the Lois & Richard Rosenthal Center for Contemporary Art in Cincinnati in 2008-2009, where the spider web sculptures have been part of a performance with the Cincinnati Ballet.
