In a previous work Painting Giants (2008) four self-portraits were commissioned from a Chinese oil painting reproduction company. The completely unknown artists were given complete artistic license other than the size which was set to the company’s standard portrait size. Another self portrait from the company’s painting staff was commissioned and delivered directly to the gallery.
