SCREAMING ROOM is an artwork in form of a large wooden crate. Inside there is an isolated room with a microphone that records people’s screaming when pressing a red button. On the other side of the crate, a 3D printer is installed which then, with the help of special technology, transforms every scream into a tea cup, ready for use and for the individual to take with them.
Energy can either be wasted, when it comes to dealing with everyday things that require our attention but don’t actually deserve it, or it can be build up inside us due to frustrations we encounter on a daily basis. In both these cases there is an excess of energy which is not put into good use.
The installation SCREAMING ROOM functions not only as an experience but also stands for a representation of a transformation process, in this specific case the transformation of energy. When an individual releases his or her energy by screaming, it is transformed with the help of technology into a completely new and earthly object, a tea cup – traditionally a symbol of relaxation and in this case a symbol of energy transformed.
