Van der Elsken wrote the following about this photograph: 'Ata's daughters went to ballet lessons at the professional Studios Wacker. I often went with them. I discovered years later that one of the dancers I'd shot there was Brigitte Bardot. At the time this picture was taken she hadn't been discovered'.
