Balancing between the literal and figurative, art and protest, Lara Schnitger uses sharp irony to evoke women’s stereotypes through explicit figures and images. Based on a sculpture from the 4th century, 16 Nipples are Enough is a voodoo-like figure with sexual catchphrases written on its fabric. For this work, Schnitger drew from the tradition of feminist agitprop, resulting in a witty aesthetic that neatly balances the literal and figurative.
